Starbucks grows closer to the source with China coffee-growing plan

Starbucks' announcement last week that it's working to establish its own coffee-growing operation in China makes sense, especially at a time when competition for the country's fledgling coffee market is growing almost as fast as the iconic chain's sales. As commodity prices continue to rise and growing global java consumption threatens to weaken the supply of quality beans, the chain is looking to guarantee its supply.
