GMA to ask FDA to set "low-carb" label standards

While companies such as H.J. Heinz, ConAgra Foods and Kraft have all bolstered their production of lower-carbohydrate food, the FDA has yet to set guidelines on what makes a product "low carb." GMA is asking the agency to create standards like the agency did with fat content, and Carbolite is asking for permission to keep its company name, which the FDA currently says represents an illegal claim.
