Opinion: Good safety policies save lives on construction sites

Construction companies must improve their safety practices and programs to prevent fatalities and serious injuries, writes Mike Hampton in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Hampton, a principal at project management and construction firm Bovis Lend Lease, says creating a culture of safety among workers is vital to any safety program. "Most accidents happen in safe environments because workers choose to do the wrong thing," he writes. "Taking shortcuts might save a little time, but they can dramatically increase the risk of the task."
