Wine, dessert pairing can be tricky

Joyce Goldstein, former chef and owner of Square One in San Francisco, says pairing wine and desserts involves one major rule: The dessert wine has to be sweeter than the dessert, or the wine will have a sour taste. Different desserts have varying tastes, so be sure to taste-test them with various wines to create a good concoction.
