Court ruling allows Atlantic Yards project to move ahead

The New York Court of Appeals on Tuesday ruled that the state may seize private property for the Atlantic Yards development in Brooklyn. In its decision, the court ruled that the area met the legal definition of "blighted." Developer Bruce Ratner said the ruling will allow the project to move forward. "The courts have made it clear that this project represents a significant public benefit for the people of Brooklyn and the entire city," he said.
