Less lead time for holiday travel in 2009

U.S. consumers waited longer this year to purchase tickets for Thanksgiving travel, according to Travelocity, as some held out for lower fares and some waited to ensure their jobs were secure. The average advance purchase occurred 55 days before Thanksgiving, 2.6 days later than last year. For Christmas travel, Travelocity says the average advance purchase slipped by eight days compared with 2008.
