As supply chains go global, companies should be wary of overseas suppliers eager to pass off cheap counterfeit components as genuine brand-name parts, writes Doug Geralde of CSA Group. To outfox fraudsters, Geralde suggests rigorous internal audits and random quality-testing programs. "Product counterfeiting is a multi-billion-dollar underground economy," Geralde notes. "Protecting global supply chain integrity is of the utmost importance for manufacturers whose reputations are at stake."
