U.S. first-time unemployment claims rise slightly

First-time claims for U.S. unemployment benefits rose 2,000 to a seasonally adjusted 393,000 last week, the Labor Department reported. The four-month rolling average, considered to be an indicator of long-term employment trends, was 394,250, a seven-month low.
