FDA clears Fenwal to update software for blood-collection device

Fenwal has been cleared by the FDA to upgrade the software used with the company's Alyx blood-collection device. The updated software enables the Alyx device to collect as much as 825 milliliters of plasma from one donor. The new software also integrates a closed-system plasma-collection protocol and an enhanced capacity for data management, among other features.
