Guarding digital back door improves supply chain security

Businesses that have taken steps to secure data within the supply chain often overlook the risks of connecting with partners through "digital backdoors," writes Tim Garcia, CEO of Apptricity. "[B]usinesses can build another solid layer of protection by restricting all digital communications and transactions between the business and its third-party vendors to a secure, easy-to-monitor digital channel," he writes. Companies should also assess the security of every area of their supply chain and should maintain regular communication between the IT, risk-management and procurement departments, he suggests.
