Medicare drug bill clears Senate

The Senate approved the $400 billion plan 54 to 44 earlier today. "This bill is an extraordinary day for seniors and indeed all Americans," said Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. President Bush has made an overhaul of the Medicare system a top priority of his presidency and many expect its passage to be a main component of his re-election campaign.
