The United States should do more to help Haiti, including forgiving its outstanding debt to the international community in order to free up money that the country can use for education, hurricane recovery and other needs, according to an opinion column in The Boston Globe. The quality of education in Haiti is already very poor because of a lack of available funding, and half of the country's children do not attend school.
