Nokia executive asserts Symbian buyout will close this year

A top Nokia executive said Tuesday that its $340 million deal to buy out Symbian's shareholders was on course, despite the economic climate. The cell phone maker announced in June its intent to acquire the British company and turn it into a provider of open-source operating software.
