Asteroids make tempting target for manned space mission

Astronauts look increasingly likely to land on an asteroid near Earth, with support for such a mission growing both at NASA and within the aerospace industry. An official with Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co., builder of the Orion spacecraft, calls the asteroid landing a "good middle-step between the moon and Mars" and says the company has been studying such a mission for years.
