World Bank launches $20 billion food fund

The World Bank will use $1.5 billion in initial funding to launch a $20 billion agricultural fund to help small farmers increase agricultural production in poor countries, Bank President Robert Zoellick says. Climate change and continuing low crop yields are among the major threats to food supplies, helping to drive the risk of additional drastic increases in food prices, Zoellick said.
