Affluent fliers receive top treatment from airlines

Airlines are competing for affluent fliers by offering them more perks that begin at the terminals, such as American Airlines' Flagship Check-in program through which affluent travelers are escorted through the airport and head to the front of the line at security. According to a report by MMGY Global and Harrison Group, affluent travelers accounted for 6% of leisure travelers in 2012, compared with 4% in 2010.
