AICPA: Tax extenders add to uncertainty, complexity

Experts at the AICPA are warning against the uncertainty and unnecessary complexity that tax extenders add to year-end tax planning. "It is challenging to advise clients if you do not know what the tax laws will be in 2014," Tax Executive Committee Chair Jeffrey A. Porter said in a statement. Edward Karl, AICPA vice president for taxation, urged Congress to act now to extend the provisions or signal that it will allow them to expire, and to make extensions permanent.
