Officials in Austin, Texas, have opted not to study a policy that would prevent fast-food restaurants from being built near schools, parks, libraries and other places where children gather. Officials said the goal of the proposal was not to limit businesses, but rather to curb childhood obesity and offer incentives for businesses to sell healthy food.
