Car sales fuel stronger-than-expected Sept. sales rise in Canada

Canada's retail sales rose 1% in September over August, three times faster than economists expected, as car sales soared, according to Statistics Canada. Year-over-year, sales rose 3.6%; excluding autos and car parts, retail sales were relatively flat as increases at building supply and garden stores were offset by declines at grocery stores and clothing shops.
