CFPB investigating for-profit colleges over "unlawful" lending practices

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau says it is investigating for-profit colleges Corinthian Colleges and ITT Educational Services for "unlawful acts or practices relating to the advertising, marketing, or origination of private student loans." Corinthian is objecting to the scope of the disclosures CFPB is seeking. The agency has proposed that it supervise large non-bank student lenders as it does banks.
