Green Mountain Coffee responds to unlicensed K-cups

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters is introducing a new Keurig 2.0 single-cup brewing system that features "interactive readability" and will not work with unlicensed single-serve cups. "Any time new technology comes out and it's a better technology and you already love the brand and you offer a better product you generally get consumers to switch ... We're pretty confident as we've begun to talk to customers about this," said CEO and President Brian Kelley. Green Mountain reported a 22% rise in revenues, and volume sales of portion packs were up 29%; Keurig machine sales were up 47% in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2013.
