NYC could order restaurants to stop tossing scraps

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is urging the City Council to pass a measure requiring large restaurants to compost their food waste. The bill would affect about 1,200 locations and would result in 30% of the city's commercial food waste being diverted from landfills, according to the mayor's office.
