SEC committee greenlights recommendations on fiduciary rule and user fees

The Securities and Exchange Commission's Investor Advisory Committee has approved two recommendations put forward by a subcommittee, one on promulgating a fiduciary rule for brokers and the other regarding assessing user fees to fund exams for investment advisers. SEC Chairman Mary Jo White called both proposals very important. While the agency is not bound by the committee's recommendation, it must disclose any plans to act on it.
