SEC warns advisers about conflicts of interest and fees

Financial advisers' conflicts of interest and compliance with fee regulation are the biggest problems uncovered during inspection by the Securities and Exchange Commission, according to the regulator's Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations, Division of Investment Management and Division of Enforcement. Paula Drake, chief compliance and ethics officer with the Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations, says 11% to 14% of inspections find violations that are sent to the Enforcement Division.
