White House releases data to support controversial "social cost of carbon" increase

The White House today will publish a technical support document showing the scientific data behind the administration's proposed increase in the metric used to determine the benefits of emission-reducing regulations. While the White House says the metric "has been developed over many years, using the best science available, and with input from the public," critics say it was created in a "black box" with insufficient oversight. The document is open for public comment for 60 days.
