At some carriers, the best coach seats cost more

Some airline are offering better seats to coach customers who are willing to pay more for their ticket. United Airlines' Economy Plus offers about 36 seats on each flight with five extra inches of leg room. Travelers who are not among the airline's top frequent fliers pay membership fees for the seats.
