Illinois hospital sued over blood-transfusion error

The family of a woman who died last year after being administered the wrong blood type during a transfusion has filed a wrongful death suit against South Shore Hospital in Chicago. A hospital official said the transfusion was halted as soon as the mistake was discovered and cited an autopsy report that showed the woman may have died of other causes.
