U. of Georgia licenses new method to make succinic acid

The University of Georgia has licensed to French company Roquette the technology to produce the chemical succinic acid, used in hundreds of household products, using an innovative method. The acid is usually made with the volatile petrochemical butane, but the university's scientists developed a method of deriving the acid and its salts from the starches of wheat and corn.
