Durable-goods orders post surprise 0.6% drop in U.S.

Orders for durable goods dropped 0.6% in October, the U.S. Commerce Department said. Analysts surveyed by Reuters had predicted that the leading indicator of future manufacturing output would move up 0.5%. For September, the government reported a revised growth of 2%.
