Initial unemployment claims fall to lowest level this year

The number of workers in the U.S. submitting their first claim for unemployment benefits declined 35,000 to 466,000 last week, the Labor Department said. That was the fewest initial claims since the week of Sept. 13, 2008. Those collecting benefits decreased to 5.42 million, the fewest ongoing claims since February.
