AMD's secret weapon for the tablet market: "Temash"

The forthcoming "Temash" accelerated processing unit is a powerful processor that Advanced Micro Devices will offer a year from now for the tablet computer market, Ashraf Eassa writes. "Simply put, this chip could be what AMD needs to try to revive itself," he notes. "With a ground-up, redesigned low-power x86 core, AMD has a real chance of threatening Intel and the various ARM licensees such as Qualcomm and Nvidia at the low end of the market (tablets, netbooks, cheap notebooks)."
