A data-fueled look at the MBA experience

Members of the MBA class of 2012 applied to an average of 3.7 programs, and 82% of them got a job offer by the time they graduated, data show. More than one-quarter of graduates in the class went into consulting; meanwhile, interest in the financial industry has waned. Detailed salary information shows the variation that exists between and within schools. For example, graduates of Harvard Business School make an average of about $124,000, but those in financial services make about $60,000 more than those who work at nonprofits.
