Weather: Growing threat to transportation infrastructure

Hurricane Sandy's damage to subway tunnels, Midwest flooding and southern roads buckling in the heat are all signs that transportation infrastructure in the U.S. is being "hammered by extreme weather," reports the Associated Press. "There is a whole series of standards that are going to have to be revisited in light of the change in climate that is coming at us," said John Horsley, executive director of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
