Coachella Valley courses create water-saving task force

Representatives from 124 golf courses in Coachella Valley, Calif., have created the Coachella Valley Golf Industry Water Conservation Task Force, a group designed to reduce the courses' water consumption by switching to treated sewage water or tapping into the nearby Colorado River. Golf course managers see a need to "step up to the plate as an industry and figure out how to do business in a way that uses less water, uses it more efficiently," says Craig Kessler, director of governmental affairs for the Southern California Golf Association.
