Experts urge small businesses to offer optional benefits to stand out

Many small-business owners say they will seek insurance options outside the Affordable Care Act exchanges, according to a survey by the National Association for the Self-Employed, and experts say optional benefits could help small businesses differentiate themselves. "Companies are thinking more creatively and strategically to design reward programs that are both within cost constraints and attractive to employees," Towers Watson analysts said. "Many are turning to voluntary benefits and services to help achieve this goal."
