Line touts growth with 400 million users, pushing for 500 million next year

Line has added 100 million registered users of its free messaging application to total 400 million. The Japanese company says approximately 80% of its registered users are monthly active users in Japan. It reports the app is doing well in east Asia and in Spanish-speaking countries, and wants to increase promotion efforts in some European countries. In terms of monetization, Line relies on sticker sales and purchases from its 220 million game downloads.
