Some retailers, including Von Maur, Nordstrom and Costco, are bucking the trend toward opening stores for Black Friday on Thanksgiving. The decision by big-name retailers like Wal-Mart and Toys R Us to open on the holiday has sparked a backlash from some employees and consumers over Black Friday creep. Experts say that while retailers who choose to remain closed on Thanksgiving will likely score some points with the public, Thanksgiving closure is usually to retailers' financial detriment.
