Stanene could compete with graphene for future electronics

11/26/2013 | Gizmodo Australia

Stanene, a thin layer of tin atoms, could prove to be a more efficient conductor of electrons than graphene and other materials, according to researchers at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and Stanford University. Those scientists report that adding fluorine atoms to stanene could make the tin material capable of 100% efficiency at temperatures of up to 100 degrees Celsius.
