Analysis: Ethanol debate continues

When ethanol was introduced as a renewable fuel option, it promised to lessen the country's dependence on foreign oil, decrease greenhouse gas emissions and aid in boosting the farm economy. Environmentalists and critics, however, cite environmental as well as economic issues that could arise with the use of ethanol. Advocates for the fuel remain firm, saying detractors are putting false blame on ethanol for increased food prices.
