Black Friday: Signs of hope, and calls for patience

If Black Friday sales are any indication, consumers may be more willing to spend this holiday season than in recent years. Some independent retailers reported a slight uptick over the weekend, although nothing like the crowds at big-box stores. Still, they said they hope their personalized service will eventually win over shoppers once the frenzy of deep discounting has worn off.
