TSA continues to study shoe scanners

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano recently said that travelers soon may be allowed to keep their shoes on as they pass through airport security. The agency has received several bids from companies that build devices capable of scanning shoes but has not set a date for introducing shoe scanners at U.S. airports.
