The 2.3% medical device tax set to begin in January could pose an additional financial burden on the industry and force companies to shut down operations and cut jobs, two associates with law firm McGuireWoods say. Two other issues facing the sector are changes to the 510(k) medical device clearance process and higher costs tied to regulatory uncertainty, they note.
