Cleveland Clinic enlists team of docs to prevent amputations

The Cleveland Clinic's Lower Extremity Wound Clinic calls on podiatrists, interventional cardiologists and other specialists to prevent amputations in patients with diabetes. New wound care technologies offer new opportunities for healing, says interventional cardiologist Mehdi Shishehbor. Patients who are told they need an amputation should always seek a second opinion, he said.
