Study outlines profile of a typical slot machine player

A recently published study in the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management says a common slot machine player, who is frequently a woman between 55 and 60, is motivated by the thrill of winning a prize or the chance to lessen boredom. The study, which included 1,000 respondents who subscribe to a gaming magazine, found that slots gamblers fell into four categories: excitement, multipurpose, utilitarian and relaxation.
