Tree debris from Hurricane Sandy to be recycled in New York City

Trees in New York City downed by Hurricane Sandy will be recycled into mulch, cover for landfills and biofuel. About 100,000 cubic yards of tree debris have been piled up in Brooklyn and another 100,000 cubic yards are expected. Some of the debris will be incinerated in an eco-friendly manner to reduce the risk of fire as limbs and branches undergo decomposition.
