Why retailers should stay closed during public holidays

Retailers that wreck their workers' holidays by insisting that stores open for early sales are only hurting themselves, writes Zeynep Ton. Holiday sales illustrate to workers how little they're valued by their employers -- and that makes it harder for stores to operate efficiently. "What retailers don't realize is that their 'lean and mean' treatment of employees isn't even helping their bottom lines," Ton writes.
