Some states seeking additional flexibility on NCLB

The U.S. Department of Education announced last week that 12 states that received No Child Left Behind waivers have requested an extra year of flexibility as they prepare to implement new teacher-evaluation systems. Fifteen states asked the department for waivers to allow them to administer fewer tests. Six states requested both types of waivers.
