U.S. jobless-benefit claims down; orders of durable goods fall in October

Initial claims for U.S. unemployment benefits fell last week, but nondefense capital goods orders in October were down as well, easing 1.2%. The lower orders may point to anemic gains in the fourth quarter after a decline in the preceding period.
