FTC to review snack, fast-food marketing to kids

At the direction of Congress, the FTC is asking about 50 food and beverage manufacturers and fast-food restaurant chains to reveal their kids marketing plans and budgets, as part of a report on the problem of childhood obesity. The request for information is similar to a subpoena, although the FTC does not have the authority to issue rules for ads aimed at children.
