D.C. proposes shuttering 24 schools

Some D.C. Council members say they felt as though they were kept out of the loop relative to a proposal from Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and Chancellor Michelle A. Rhee to close 24 schools. Fenty and Rhee say their plan to introduce a range of new academic programs to the school system will require the closure of under-enrolled schools.
